13 year age difference
February 25, 2010 – Pending Case
The applicant and the sponsor had met online and began contacting each other frequently, eventually meeting in person. This developed into a serious relationship and we were instructed to assist in preparing a Subclass 300 Prospective Spouse Visa so that the applicant could enter Australia to marry the sponsor.
In our submission, we gave evidence of the couple’s intention to marry by highlighting the fact that they had announced their engagement in the newspapers and had obtained a Notice of Intended Marriage.
We argued that the couple was in a genuine and continuing relationship despite their 13-year age difference. We supported this argument by submitting evidence of their frequent communications with each other despite their living in separate countries. We also submitted evidence of their respective families’ support of their relationship.
Our argument was successful and the subclass 300 visa was granted.
