To be an Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law by the Law Society of NSW, a person must be a practicing lawyer with at least 5 years experience in Immigration Law and must pass a rigorous examination involving preparing a complicated test case, a three hour examination and a video-taped interview with a client. Specialists must undertake 20 hours per year of continuing professional education to keep up their accreditation, and they must pay for insurance to preserve clients rights.
